This rare and whimsical Bakhtiari kilim is a striking example of tribal storytelling through textile art. Known for their symbolic motifs, the Bakhtiari tribe of southwest Iran often wove images of lions to represent strength and nobility. In this special piece, however, the lions take on a gentler, playfully timid expression—a charming and unusual interpretation that adds warmth and personality.
Set against a soft cream background, the lions are rendered in vivid hues, with intricate detailing that reflects both skill and creativity. Two elegant birds sit between them, softening the composition with a touch of serenity and whimsy.
Framing the scene is a zigzag tribal border in rich browns and creams that grounds the piece while adding visual depth. This kilim has a balanced palette and joyful presence, making it an ideal addition to a child’s room, reading nook, or any space that would benefit from a touch of narrative and charm.
Handwoven using traditional techniques, this piece is both collectible and decorative—a testament to the creativity of nomadic weavers.
