A rare Central Asian Karakalpak dowry weaving in the form of a torba / trapping for yurt decoration.
Circa 1900.
An outstanding example of a Karakalpak dowry weaving with two large Turkmen style gols on a soft madder red ground; the gols are beautifully drawn using dark indigo blue, yellow and green; this style of gol is usually associated with Ersari weaving. The fine detailed fringes have been added to both long edges.
The weaving is in excellent condition with no visible wear and full pile.
This is a rare and very collectible example of Karakalpak weaving.
Stock Number: D-0092.
