Antique Baluch pushti bag face with a repeat design on a dark indigo blue ground.
Circa 1900.
Pushti were used as pillows or back rests, they were filled with wool or straw through a small opening to one side. This face from a pushti originates from the region of Western Afghanistan. The design is a simple repeat design but has subtle use of colour and an open, spacious feel. The border is of one of the scarcer Baluch designs, often described as the 'bird foot' design. The wool is very soft to the touch.
The bag face is in good condition with very slight wear and good pile. There is slight historic damage to the left hand edge, this is reflected in the price.
