Antique Sistan Baluch pushti bag face with a repeat design, on a dark indigo blue ground.
Circa 1900.
Pushti were used as pillows or back rests, they were filled with wool or straw through a small opening to one side. This face from a pushti originates from the Sistan region of south-western Afghanistan. The border is of a traditional Baluch chevron design. The weaving has a colour palette that is typical of the Sistan Baluch.
The bag face is in very good condition with very slight wear and good pile, there are a few missing knots in the top lefthand corner.
