Size: 3ft 10in x 2ft 5in (116 x 74cm). Opened size. Antique Persian double faced saddle bag by the Qashqai or Luri tribe. Circa 1890. This outstanding saddle bag is of a rare format where both faces, (the original front and back of the bag), are piled. The design to the front of the bag is the well known latch hook medallion design, the reverse of the bag is covered in diagonal lines of octagon medallions, with smaller filler elements. The colours are superb and really glow. The top end of the bag has the traditional closing lappets, and the lower end has the remains of the original closing loops.
