Authentic Handwoven Vintage Double-Bag Face / Heybe (96x39 cm)
This rare and elongated textile piece is one of the most authentic examples of nomadic weaving tradition. Consisting of the two connected faces (eyes) of a Heybe (Saddle Bag), this piece combines functionality with artistic elegance. With its vibrant colors and intricate geometric patterns, it holds collector value and adds a deep cultural atmosphere to any interior space.
Key Features:
Size: Approximately 96 cm (Length) x 39 cm (Width). (Each bag face measures roughly 40x39 cm, with a central connecting panel bringing the total length to 96 cm).
Material: Woven with high-quality hand-spun wool yarns.
Origin: An authentic nomadic/tribal weaving. (Please add the Region/Tribe if known: Turkmen, Qashqai, Anatolian, etc.)
Condition: Vintage (Old). The textile piece is preserved in excellent condition for its age. (Please note: As an original bag/saddle bag face, it has a natural rustic look on the edges and connecting areas.)
Design and Details:
Form: Traditional Heybe form, where two identical or very similar woven panels are joined by a narrow connecting strip. This form was historically used for carrying goods on the back of a horse or camel.
Colors: a rich color palette is used: Striking yellow, cobalt blue, light blue, beige, and crimson tones stand out against a dark navy/maroon ground. These vibrant colors are likely achieved using natural (vegetable) dyes.
Pattern: The woven surface is covered with intricate and dense geometric motifs (typically stars, hooked designs, or diamond patterns) composed of interlocking squares. This detailed craftsmanship demonstrates the high quality and skill of the weaver.
Display and Use:
This special piece is both a collector's item and a striking decorative element.
Wall Art: An impressive wall hanging that will be the focal point of a room, either hung vertically or framed.
Collector's Item: a rare and valuable addition to a collection of nomadic art and tribal weavings.
Decorative Textile: It can be repurposed as a long cushion or a bench/stool cover by adding backing and stitching.
This authentic saddle bag face is more than just a textile; it is a soulful work of art that carries the story of the past.
