Authentic Vintage Square Bag / Pillow Face in Vibrant Colors (72x78 cm)
This eye-catching, nearly square handwoven textile piece is an authentic Large Bag Face (Torba) or Pillow Face that reflects the rich colors and pattern diversity of nomadic weaving art. Distinguished by its intense geometric motifs and vivid color usage, this item will instantly add an ethnic depth to any collection or decor.
Key Features:
Size: Approximately 72 cm x 78 cm. (Perfect size for a cushion, floor pillow, or wall hanging.)
Material: Woven with high-quality, likely hand-spun wool yarns.
Origin: An authentic nomadic/tribal weaving. (Please add the Region/Tribe if known: Turkmen, Qashqai, Anatolian, etc.)
Condition: Vintage. The textile is preserved in excellent condition for its age. The thick, banded weaving finish at the bottom, without fringe, is characteristic of its original bag construction.
Design and Details:
Colors: a rich and vibrant palette is used, lending energy to the weaving. Bright yellow, white, and various shades of blue and red motifs are set against deep crimson/brick red and dark blue grounds. These colors were most likely achieved using natural (vegetable) dyes.
Pattern: The main field is characterized by an intense repetition of interlocking lines and diamond-shaped (baklava) geometric motifs. These patterns reflect tribal symbolism and the weaver's skill.
Borders: The main design is framed by a thick border featuring thinner, geometric strips and 'S'-shaped details in contrasting colors.
Bottom Section (Bag Feature): The lower part of the piece features a wide, flat horizontally striped woven band, which is typically the lower edge of a bag's (torba/çuval) front face. This detail indicates the piece originally belonged to a larger container.
Display and Use:
Near-square weavings like this are favorites among collectors due to their versatile decorative uses.
Wall Art: An impactful wall decoration with its vibrant colors and intricate pattern.
Collector's Item: a strong aesthetic addition to a collection of tribal and ethnic textiles.
Decorative Cushion/Pillow: Can be repurposed as an authentic floor cushion or a large pillow cover.
This handwoven bag face is a unique work of art where colors, patterns, and history converge, imbuing it with a soulful quality.
