a extremely fine and very rare example of antique silk embroidered Imperial Chinese silk embroidery on paper from likely Early Qing / Ching / Tsing dynasty. Likely dates between 18th to early 19th Century. Extremely fine silk threads are embroidered using a series of stitch types, including flag stitch, peking blind stitch / forbidden stitch (a super fine chain stitch) drawing a wonderful floral design that boasts with gorgeous colours. Each flower is rendered with shades of the various colours used, creating depth and realism. Such high quality work would often be seen in dragon robes or rank badges. i have never seen it on paper. i assume it is a show piece to demonstrate an embroiderer’s talent before being commissioned to stitch on silk. The colours are fabulous and the work is fantastic. Good overall condition but with some expected creases and tears to the base paper, which doesn’t distract the beauty…. It is secured to a white card base. a rare collectible textile offered at a good price. size: put together 27cm x 20cm (10.5" x 8”)….. ……..
