a superb and very fine antique silk embroidered Turkoman Turkmen children’s bib attribute to Yomud / Yomut tribes. Dating to the late 19th century, this excellent Central Asian embroidery has wonderful workmanship with an archaic design rendered with rich palette of colours. These bibs were symbolic garments of children, at times repurposed from left over embroideries but one intention… to protect the child from eveil eye. The child’s head would slip through the slit in the middle and it is finished with colourful chain stitched embroidery repeating double eagle motifs. In pristine condition with floral printed lining.
