Aymara Ccahua Man's Ponchito. This finely woven textile consists of two joint panels with a neck slit. The purple/brown center is woven using Chimi technique which involves plying two different colored yarns together into a single bi-chrome warp yarn. When woven, these "chimi" yarns create a subtle blending effect, where the eye perceives a third, new shade. Red stripes could be achieved from the cochineal insect dye. Some damage and weak areas in the field and at one corner cab be viewed at the photo. Size 101 x 93 cm. igo.licht@gmail.com
