Period: Late 19th Century Origin: Kashkuli Dimensions: 156 x 245 cm This refined Kashkuli rug was woven in southern Iran during the late nineteenth century by the Kashkuli branch of the Qashqai tribes. Within the broader Qashqai weaving tradition, Kashkuli rugs are especially admired for their finer workmanship, balanced compositions, and rich decorative vocabulary. The vivid red field is densely filled with rosettes, stylized floral forms, and small geometric motifs. Dark indigo panels at the top and bottom of the field introduce an architectural structure to the design, adding visual depth and rhythm. The symmetrical arrangement of motifs reflects a harmonious balance between tribal expression and a more controlled design approach. The multi layered border system combines vegetal and geometric elements in a cohesive and elegant manner. Naturally dyed tones of red, indigo, ivory, and soft blue have aged gracefully, preserving the rug’s vibrancy and visual strength. Considering its design density, color harmony, and wool quality, this piece stands as a fine and collectible example of late nineteenth century Kashkuli weaving. Stock No: 2826
