Antique Turkmen rug of small size and early date. 19th century. An intriguing small Turkmen rug, with an archaic gul design. The three vertical rows of seven Turkmen guls are on a abrashed madder red / brown ground. The drawing of the guls is of a simple form giving the rug a very primitive feel. This is without any doubt an early rug and attribution is difficult, experts have so far suggested, Ersari, Kizil Ayak, Chodor and Yomut. Size: 5ft 1in x 3ft 2in (156 x 97cm). D-1358
