Antique Tekke Turkmen torba of very fine weave, with four Salor type guls..
Size: 3ft 7in x 12in (109 x 30cm) face size.
Circa 1880.
a very good Tekke torba with excellent colour and good wool. The torba has survived very well with all the original long tassels still intact. These torba were used to decorate the side of a camel during a Turkmen wedding procession, these were prized possessions and formed part of the wedding dowry. The were kept as heirlooms and displayed inside the yurt. This example is of exceptionally fine weave and has survived in near perfect condition. There are old brass hanging rings attached to the back.
The torba is in excellent condition with very slight wear and excellent pile.
