Period: Late 19th Century
Origin: Tebriz
Dimensions: 310 x 440 cm
This elegant Tebriz carpet was woven in the late 19th century in one of Iran’s most renowned weaving centers, Tebriz. The delicate patterns rising over a soft ivory field reflect the refinement and artistic mastery that Tabriz carpets are celebrated for.
Motifs & Design:
Central Medallion: a large, intricately detailed medallion lies at the heart of the carpet, its perfect symmetry symbolizing harmony and cosmic order.
Floral Motifs: Roses, tulips, and leaf forms symbolize nature’s abundance and prosperity. Their graceful execution is a hallmark of Tebriz weaving.
Herati Pattern: Also known as the “fish” motif, the Herati design repeats across the field, creating a sense of fluidity and unity. Traditionally, it is seen as a symbol of protection and fertility.
Vase & Floral Compositions: Vases filled with blossoming flowers in the field and corners allude to the “Tree of Life,” a symbol of continuity and renewal.
Borders: The multi-layered border frames the central composition with elegance. Inner bands of geometric patterns and outer layers of floral motifs create a balanced contrast.
Key Features:
High knot density allows intricate details and fine precision in the design.
Crafted from high-quality wool and natural dyes, giving the carpet both durability and timeless beauty.
Beyond its decorative elegance, this carpet stands as a cultural and artistic treasure of late 19th-century Persia.
This Tebriz carpet is not just a decorative piece—it is a true work of art that carries the spirit of Persian craftsmanship and cultural heritage into the modern era.
