Caucasian soumak bag face in a beetle design, late 19thC, it is mostly uncountered soumak, although this design is often used by the Shahsevan, the lack of cotton and use of three ply warps that have a barber pole effect, possibly point to a Northern Kuba or Dahgestan origin, the Josan web site suggests that this design could also be attributed to the Avar, the approximate size is 20x23 inches, condition issues as seen in the photos, there are no "hot" colors, but some of the dyes may be synthetic, i did give this a soaking wet wash, and none of the colors blead, if i don't respond to a rr message, please contact me at aarthur@cyberrug.com, more photos available
