Antique Tekke Turkmen torba / mafrash, face of a small storage bag.
Size: 2ft 9in x 12in (83 x 30cm).
Circa 1880.
This small Tekke Turkmen torba / mafrash face, is the piled face of a small bag used for keeping personal belongings in, it was usually hung up inside the yurt. This example is of the 'aina' gul design, there are four rows of two box like guls. The bag face is of very fine weave, at some time in its history the back has been removed.
The bag face is in fair condition with slight even wear and good pile, all four edges have been over bound. There is a small old repair in the centre of the lower border.
A good display item that could be hung on a wall or used on top of a table or chest.
