Rare and beautiful 19th c. Yomud prayer kilim, 31" x 41". Very unusual to see a kilim of this type not woven in a saph format. Warp threads appear to be camel hair? and sheep wool twined. Vivid colors including aubergine, red, green, blue and ivory. Some well executed repairs to some areas of the thin guards on either side of the primary vertical bands. Slight wear at the lower end and top where presumably hands and feet have caused abrasion. Also some isolated areas of wear in the field. The piece exudes a feeling of richness, peace and solemnity.
