Exceptional Thirma Bagh Phulkari – East (Pakistan) Undivided Punjab India.
An exceptionally rare and elegant Thirma Bagh Phulkari from the Punjab region, handwoven on a fine ivory-white khaddar ground and meticulously embroidered with lustrous silk floss (pat) threads in rich crimson red. Traditionally associated with bridal trousseaux and ceremonial occasions, Thirma Phulkaris were highly prized for their refined white foundation, symbolizing purity, prosperity, and prestige.
This remarkable example displays the characteristic Bagh (Garden) style embroidery, where the design is executed with extraordinary precision and geometric balance. The striking crimson embroidered panels create a beautiful visual contrast against the pristine white field, highlighting the mastery of the artisan's hand and the sophistication of Punjab's textile heritage.
The restrained yet powerful composition reflects the aesthetic elegance of the finest nineteenth and early twentieth-century ceremonial Phulkaris, made for special family occasions and preserved as treasured heirlooms across generations.
