This circa 1850 or older antique Caucasian Shirvan runner measures 3’7” x 9’4”. It has twelve stripes in eleven different colors. This is the finest woven Shirvan of its type i have ever seen. It has a very nice wine glass border on an ivory ground. The ends and sides are complete. It has been professionally repaired in Turkey and the repair is invisible. It has a midnight blue field with maroon to aubergine corners and a pulled medallion. There is a very beautiful pale green in the rug especially in the border design. There is to my mind no name for this border design – it is unique. This is a solid 3rd quarter 19th century piece.
