Baluch bird bag, half of what was originally a khorjin (double saddlebag). It was well used in its original ethnographic setting. Looks like it was woven, used, repaired, and used some more, ---maybe even repaired again, but the pile face is largely intact. Parts of the closure panels remain at the top. Dark brown dye was corrosive, so that pile color is worn shorter in some areas, though underlying foundation is intact. Back is striped flatweave in the same colors as the pile front, and includes some strips of weft-float design. Wear to edges and especially to the lower two corners. Will look brighter after washing. Pile front is about 21 inches wide by 15 inches high (54cm x 38cm).
