Interesting indian Kani weave shawl from Punjab(Twill tapestry) Circa 1840 . Woven by hand with nine colors as turquoise, yellow, red, pink, white, green, black, blue and purple, this shawl has a rare ivory pashmina center with four corners and architected palmet borders. Amazing colorfull dotted lines design which highlights the overlaid boteh and arabesques ground. a great indian shawl from Punjab. Good condition and preservation.
Measures: 127 cm x 261 cm.
Positive Comments:
a real firework for the eyes. This shawl is extremely soft to the touch, which is the characteristic of the finest shawls from Kashmir and Punjab.
Negative Comments:
The side borders have some repairs that can strengthen and stabilize its borders. Reserve ivory and weaving fields are in excellent condition (no holes or stains).
