Strip of gold brocaded silk with a geometric repeated pattern. Dim.: WxL 16x100cm. The length composed of two parts of 35 and 65cm. The motives stand reddish against a light green background. This reddish color is the effect of a layer of lacquer covering the threads of the weft, used to adhere the gold foil. Of the gold there's nothing left except a few traces. This type of lacquered and gilded threads, the boldness of the design and the power of gold on green are indications that this a relatively early weaving, probably 16th century Ming or before. Condition: some wear along the edges, a few loose threads. In general fair condition. Mounted on green cotton on foam-board (23x106cm).
