moroccan berber middle atlas flat weave / kilim. The shape and fineness of weave and embroidery indicate that this would have been used as a cape for a Berber woman, probably for cermonial occasions. It is old, probably woven before 1950, and is from the region of Boujad in the western Middle Atlas. a very similar piece is shown in "Splendeurs du Maroc" on page 183, plate 230 which piece is in the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
