a wonderfull early ningxia throne-back, in fragmentary condition but older than most with nice well aged colors, the goldish background color is seldom seen in this quality as many of these originally red dyed wool turned into a more greyish brown ton. it is woven with double wefts alternatively in cotton and wool (clearly visible on the detail image showing the back) an interesting feature which would have problably some more significance if this were a turkmen piece. throne back from that age are not common; early 18th century and possibly older.
