Late 19th Century Antique Persian Serapis Heriz Rug showcase the finest grade of Heriz in terms of design, weave and color and this rug has it all.
At the center of the rich red field a cruciform medallion in blue-black and ivory floats freely with a lavish interior embellishment of sinuous vines.
Blue-green cornerpieces fill out the field with elaborate arabesque detail. Grand finials and dynamic branches are found in the intervening red ground.
A complex "turtle" vine scroll border set within a blue-black ground creates an elegant and dramatic frame.
The white spots you see on the rug are styrofoam peanuts.
