An interesting 18th or early 19th century east Anatolian rug (ca. 118 x 218 cm). Belongs to a rare group of about 12 known examples, and very similar in design (the main S-border and field almost identical) to the well known rug of same type in the Vakiflar museum collection. There are areas of wear as evident from the accompanying set of images, there are older and newer repairs, and the selvedges are not original. There are also areas in full pile and the condition overall is very good. The rug was photographed indoor w/flash so the colors stick out a little bit more than in real life. a lovely rug.
