Kilim panel (Mafrash) #3254 Origin: Iran. Shahsavan, Khamseh area. Size: 42" x 44" Age: 2nd quarter 20th c. Wool. Extra weft wrapping. Ends are banded plain weave. An eye dazzling effect is achieved by the white outlining around each of the rams' horn motifs in the medallions. This intricate mafrash was probably made for the dowry of the young Shahsavan weaver to show her prowess at the loom.
