Back
Baluch rug; beginning 20th c.; 154 x 84 cm (5`1” x 2`9”); nice and seldom flower / snow flake design.
d.h.g. Wegner shows it in article “Pile Rugs of The Baluch and Their Neighbors” as figure 3 and names it “gül-e-kaf” and allocate it to the Boruti which are probably Timuri. “Gül-e-kaf” is also well described in the book from Powischer / Beludj / p. 349.
Well drawn typical main border for “Torbat-e-Heidarie” region with little narcis flowers.
Unusual for Baluch rug is the diagonal allocation from the “Gül-e-kaf” from upper right to lower left. Also with an unusual Shirasi, it is a "fish bone stitch" made in goat hair, nice wool, perfect condition.
