Here is a beautifull pair of old Kirgiz embroidered arm
bands or cuffs (i am not sure which). The bands measure
14" long and 2" wide and are in excelent condition. They
were purchased along with the Kirgiz belt in my previous
auction and are Kirgiz work as well, however the needle
work here, while very fine, is not as fine as that of the
belt. There are seven colors used here, black, white,
yellow, orange, light blue and light green. The belt may
have been made by the mother or grandmother and the bands
by the daughter for her wedding dress. The colors are rich
and are all derived from natural dyes. From the quality
and fine design and older dye colors used i would date these
bands to between the 3rd. and 4th. quarter of the 19th.century.
i am showing this pair of arm bands or cuffs with the very
fine belt shown in my previous offering.
offering is for the arm bands only.
