Peter Pap: Bags from the Tribes and Villages of the Near East & Central Asia

Peter Pap Oriental Rugs presents the following exhibition of pile and flatwoven bags from the tribes and villages of the Near East and Central Asia. These antique ethnographic pieces are presented in no particular order and represent a geographic region from the Caspian Sea to the Oxus River in Central Asia. Some were woven as bags for animals others as tent bags. Regardless, they represent broad weaving traditions from several related traditional cultures which each placed tremendous value on these hand-crafted utilitarian objects.
