Antique Taimani/Baluch prayer rug 37" x 42" 94 x 120 cm Pros: This piece has 9 colors, including a true aubergine, 2 or 3 shades of blue and a deep green. The wool is particularly glossy. The lustrous sheen really shows in good light. The fact that the major borders do not enclose the hand panels suggests that the piece is earlier than most late 19th century examples. a similar example can be seen in Craycraft & Halley's b00k on Baluch prayer rugs. Unfortunately, however, i cannot provide the exact page reference. Cons: The brown is corroded down to the knots and has a few small funky old repairs. Some of the colored motifs also have low pile.
