An exceptionally fine and early cloth displaying a particularly elegant ratio of vertical stripe proportion on a saturated indigo ground. This textile came out of a trunk in an attic belonging to an old colonial family formerly stationed in the Ivory Coast, but the exact tribe from which it had been acquired is unknown.
