Masks of Fabled Lands / Masques des Pays des fables
is a visual and art historical inquiry primarily into two of the great mask traditions of Asia, those of Indonesia and the Himalayas. They are well represented in both their Tribal and Classical forms. We see as well masks from the outliers that culturally surround them, i.e. masks from Siberia, Sri Lanka, Japan and New Guinea that help contextualize the whole. An in-depth analytical essay probes the nature of the human psyche that created them as evolving over time. The book is hard bound and bilingual, English and French. All masks were available for sale at the time of publication. Winner, 4th place in the hardcover category at the Gold Ink Awards 2010
