Tat nomads, Caucasian Dragon Sumakh Mafrash side panel fragment. Baku region, Azerbaijian. Cm 50x100 or 20"x40" ca. Roughly mid 19th century. The red and blue diagonal stripes contain Dragon symbols stylised in s forms. The field is covered with narrow cotton white bands decorated with double s motifs.
It's a rare piece made by the Tat nomads living on the Absheron/Surahani peninsula. Damaged, worn out, reduced, but still with lots of character and charme.
