Have a look. This Western Anatolia, most likely Aydin kilim, is imho nothing special but has an interesting story behind. There was this lady living in the palace right in front of my gallery in the old Rome. We used to chat, she bought some pieces, used to ask me to come to her house to help her to choose. Her house was fantastic, i remember three portraits of her done by Andy Warhol, a whole wall painted by Rauschenberg, paintings by.......Lichtenstein...etc. One day, a few months before dying she called me to come over to her place. She showed me a kilim in her main bathroom and asked to buy a new one to replace it. It was this same Aydin. The kilim has been used all its life face down, which means that the colors on the back appear pale while on the front are still as when woven. Really unusual to me. On top she said that she wanted to have it restored because it was a present by ......Andy Warhol! i was amazed. Few days later she passed by the gallery and chose a very nice kilim to replace the one given to me for restoration. She died soon after. i was abroad and knew about her death only six months later. This happened about ten years ago. i forgot about it until today when looking for something else i found it and did remember thanks to the label i applied reading: "Graziella". The size is cm 127x202. Early 20th century. Mixed colors. In need of restoration.
