Caucasian small and rich pile rug from the Ghendje area, Azerbaijan.
The size is cm 95x145.
Age is credited as end of 19th century or slightly earlier.
This small rug is very rich in pattern and colors.
The main field has got seven eagle like, colorful medallions and lots of symbols, stars, diamonds, etc., with three main borders of different design.
One could write for hours about the content, the symbology, the messages……
The conditions are good. a few, old, minor restorations are present, but carefully hidden to our eyes.
Ghendje is a town in the Caucasian mountains, midway between Baku, capital of Azerbaijan and Tiblisi, capital of Georgia.
Sold on behalf of the heirs of an Italian collector.
