The Magic of Tibet.
Double Dorje/Varja. cm 12.
Also called the "Thunderbolt" or the "Magic double cross".
Datable to the first half of 20th century or earlier.
Provenance: from the heirs of a Dutch collector.
The double Dorje, or Crossed Varja is a Tibetan symbol for indestructibility. It does represent the shining diamond shaped lights and symbolizes the indestructible power from which everything else arises.
It is a ritual object that Dalai Lama keeps in his right hand during various religious ceremonies, while in his left hand he holds a bell.
Dorje is in Tibetan, while Varja is Sanskrit.
Double Dorje has extra strength to protect what is both sacred and secular.
The Vajra is like a diamond, because it can destroy but cannot be destroyed.
It is said that the actual possession of this Dorje/Vajra destroys all evil.
It fits perfectly in your hand and makes you feel protected and right.
p.s The Tibet/Zanskar sheep/yak tie-dye shawls and the singing bell are also available
