a Masterpiece of Warp-Float Weaving This extraordinarily finely woven Qashqai saddlebag, or khorjin, from Iran is a testament to an exceptional weaver’s skill. Woven using the specialized warp-float weave technique, this piece combines vibrantly colored wool with undyed white cotton, achieving an unparalleled level of intricate detail. The warp-float method, typically reserved for narrower textiles like tent bands, has been applied here to recreate a complex pattern usually found in kilims, where the weft forms the design. In a remarkable feat of weaving, the central medallion surrounded by four smaller secondary medallions has been meticulously rendered using the warps themselves. While the rear of the saddlebag is less elaborate, it still displays a complexity and asymmetry rarely seen in other warp-float woven pieces. All colors in this unique saddlebag are derived from natural dyes. Please note that there are some minor repairs. Material: 100% hand-spun sheep wool and cotton (white areas) Size: 89×51 cms Origin: Qashqai tribe, Iran Date of weaving: 1950s You can buy this khorjin directly from our web: https://www.nomada.biz/en/producto/semi-antique-qashqai-saddlebag-or-kho...
