Kasim Ushag Karabagh
rug fragment
Out of the blue came this lovely Caucasian rug fragment from Karabagh.
The size is cm 75x90 ca and it appears well proportioned.
Age i would say it could be datable to the end of the 19th or early 20th c.
The pattern is certainly beautiful with two large octagons amid a sky like field with lots of stars, diamonds, small kind of gardens with different number of rosettes
Numerology here seems spreading messages; 2, 4 6 and 9.
Awesome, natural, elegant dyes with two different greens, a wonderful madder brick orange, a deep indigo blue and a fantastic gold yellow, the most difficult color to get in nature.
I think there is material to study this fragment a little bit deeper.
I do not know much, but the pattern makes me think both of Seljuks and Turkmen.
Somebody said the pattern reminded him of two spaceships in a sky full of stars, diamonds, etc.
