a finely woven antique Baluch rug from the Sistan area of Afghanistan, featuring a rare and charming design of a small plant or bush repeated across the entire field. With a very fine weave and high knot density, and crafted in soft, lustrous wool, this rug would have been a treasured possession for its owner.
The side cords are reinforced with goat hair and remain in excellent condition, highlighting the exceptional craftsmanship and durability of this piece. All the dyes are natural.
Material: 100% hand-spun sheep wool and goat hair for the side cords
Size: 188×123 cms
Origin: Baluch tribe from Sistan, Afghanistan
Date of weaving: 1930s or earlier
