Some of these bands have been left plain and unadorned, while others have been meticulously decorated with small, intricate motifs. The very finely spun wool used in the weaving of this kilim allowed the weaver to create exceptionally delicate and detailed patterns. As the weaver had access only to a narrow loom, she achieved the desired width by weaving two separate panels and then carefully joining them together after completion.
