David Reuben
Trained as a chemist with a PhD from the university of California, Berkley. Taught for a few years in both the USA and England. Switched to dealing in antique carpets in the 1980s. Specialised in Turkmen rugs, published two Exhibition catalogues and wrote articles for Hali magazine. Recognized many rare items which no one else did. That includes the rare Saryk main carpet that sold at Rippon Boswell in December 2010 for a big price. Sothebys catalogued the carpet incorrectly when they sold it earlier. Retired in 2010 and recently wrote a study of the asymmetrically knotted Yomuts as well as some Ersari pieces.
