Jake Gregory
Textiles; tactile fragments of human history, have been a source of wonder for me, as long as I can remember! Long before I formally studied cultural anthropology in the early '70's, and began to acquire the knowledge of the ethnic origins of the seeds of my collection, I was enchanted by the mastery of colour, form and design represented in each piece. I didn't know what I was looking at, i just knew I loved it! 10 years spent living and working throughout the Middle East and South Asia, expanded my understanding of Central Asian textiles and when I eventually re-located to Canada, no less than a 40 foot container was needed to cart it all home. I do not have a shop but buy and sell textiles which interest me; especially those that have a story to tell.
